Arrival (2)

The group follows the woman with the vibrant tresses as she leads them through the space station and up to a deck with large windows extending up above their heads. Lush greenery surrounds them and Phee glances at Sayer as she holds out her hand to brush the leaves as they walk. Sayer is grinning, and Chun looks as though she's thinking that the sight of living plants is a welcome change from the sterility of Insilico

They slow to a stop in front of a luxurious black couch facing the view outside the station, and begin to take seats. Sayer lowers himself onto the couch and pulls Phee on to his lap. Phoenix nuzzles him and smiles, closing her eyes for a moment. Project 17 remains standing, waiting until they are settled. She begins to speak in her soft voice.

"This is the Garden Commons. Please feel free to have a rest while we talk.  If you would like any kind of refreshments they are available." She pauses to look around. Satsified everyone is comfortable she continues, "As we know, unfortunately the humans have forsaken the Earth... written it off as a waste of time and energy, left it to rot.  As you can see with Gemini's operation Summer Dawn they are preoccupied with moving up and outwards.  However at this rate if they cannot take care of the Earth I am not even sure how they are going to take care of a new one... let alone move an enormous moon sized asteroid."

Aemeth shakes her head. "They won't, they'll just use up the next planet and move on."

Chun jumps as a warning signal comes from her nearly depleted fuel cells. "Sorry, people, got to go find some free electrons." Project 17 's sisters attend to Chun to show her to a power source. As she leaves, Chun calls back over her shoulder, "They think they may be able to harness the D'naa power source."

"If they ever give that up," Aemeth says. But she doesn't sound hopeful of that.

Project 17 tilts her head curiously in Chun's direction.  She would ask about that further later as she knew very little about D'naa.  "The Utopia corporation is looking to re-establish and recover the Earth.  Our goal is to clean and cultivate the planet so it is habitable enough for recolonization."
At this, Aemeth's face lights are. "Are you serious?" Project 17 replies, "Yes, very... and I think you are all gifted enough to help if you are interested in undertaking this task."

"I am!" Aemeth says immediately. Sayer nods enthusiastically, "Me too!"

"This will be an extremely long term project with a tremendous amount of teamwork.  We would love to have you on the team.  In the near future a cybernetics Corporation named Miach may join us."

"So what does recovery of the planet mean, I mean.. how long would something like that take?" Aemeth asks. Project 17 takes in another deep breath as she estimates.  "There really hasn't been a set time frame but the first step is surveying the surface, taking samples, scouting for dangers, how much the surface and biological organisms have evolved.  The next step after that is calculating what changes need to be made that will do the least damage to the existing ecosystem for repair."

"And what if you run into people who aren't willing to let you do what you want to do?" Aemeth asks, holding up a finger, "Like.. I dunno. UBC. Salvage companies. Gemini."

"The Doctor has connections within the UBC and he has the approval of the Galactic Research Foundation to proceed.  If we are met with oppossiton we will have to address each scenario per basis."

Sayer sits listening, overwhelmed. "This sounds so complex... how many people are working on this project?" Project 17 turns to him, "Utopia, itself consists of several hundred employees.  However we are looking into several other R&D organizations for assistance."

Aemeth nods to this, and stands. "I hate to cut this short and step out, but I'm kind of exhausted from the trip. Can I catch up tomorrow?"

"Of course, We have so much more to discuss.  I will have my sisters show you to a room."
